Fixed on Fiction

le FIXI books

Here i am once again, fixed on my reading gig!
Though i am quite surprised that i managed to finish reading 3 'Malay language' books within 2 weeks! (eh, btl ke 2 weeks? btl la kot)


I say Malay language instead of Novel..because unlike the normal cliche Novel 
(cintan cintun dan islamic love and forbidden love..well basically LOVE sells eh!) u see in bookstores,
these books, published by FIXI are specially reserved for people who r kinda into pulp fiction..most of these writers are bloggers who are trying to bring out fresh ideas in writing..which is a breath of fresh air for someone like me!

  find love, freedom, peace and happiness.
So if you wonder; if it is worth taking the 
  risks or not, the only way to find out is by taking them.

With not much idea on what to update on my blog,

Bored and with nothing to do ( no mood for study yet)
i looked through Youtube to watch anything that may amuse me,
then i saw this video (look below) of this chubby chinese kid! ~cute eyh..
and it says he's singing 'i will always love you' by Whitney Houston..added BETTER than the singer itself!

My review of Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief

I watched this movie with my bro last night

Its a story about the cute guy 

(refer to poster above)

who is half man half god.

His father is the Olympian God, Poseidon the God of the Sea,

(the father of Ariel, in The Little Mermaid) note: does not relate to this movie!

who is suppose to be one of the TOP 3 Gods in Olympus,

besides Hades and Zeus.

Soo...this Poseidon guy had a one night stand (dunno if its true love or what)

with this lady,

and along came Percy Jackson,

the dyslexic kid with ADHD.

He had a normal life~

Then suddenly,

he was accused of STEALING Zeus's Lightning Bolt!

Because supposedly 'kids of gods' CAN steal from gods,

there's no rule against that.

Then Percy's mom got vanquished,

and Percy found out that in order to get back his mom

he has to return the Lightning Bolt to Hades

(coz Hades wanted to use the Bolt to take over Olympus)

They go through many obstacles,

adventures..blahblahblahblah..

including a Boy like Girl, Girl like Boy essence

Found the Lightning,

Fight with the protagonist - which i'm not telling here!

Give back the Bolt to Zeus,

and Percy's new life is spent at the demi-god camp!

Its kinda like a Hercules-type movie,

encounters with Medusa, Hydra, and such Romanian creatures.

And the heroin - being like a Zena-type figure..huh!

Its kinda cliche to me,

and very teenager-ish - not that hard to figure what will happen next!

And the movie feels like a game, a Harry Potter game maybe..huhu

You'll understand why if u watch this movie.

How many stars for this movie? 3/5 Stars

alyzv~ wonder is the book is much better..of course!

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

I want to watch this movie!!

Just look at the casts!

Heath Ledger! Johnny Depp! Jude Law! Colin Farell!

all acting as the same character!

Fuh~

Now ur wondering y?

The character of Tony was supposed to be held by Heath Ledger (ONLY)

until his life came to an end, but the movie had to go on right?

So JD n CF stepped in to colour up the scene!

(konon2 nya  Tony ni boleh transform characters)

It's gonna be an exciting movie this on..espacially when Heath Ledger (n Johnny Depp) is in it!

The movie is about Dr Parnassus who made a bet with the devil..

First he wanted IMMORTALITY..then as he got married he wanted YOUTH

and that's where his bet went wrong~

Guess what he bet on, her daughter!

So the story is about saving the girl- hero stuff!

n also fantasy stuff (hence 'Imaginarium')

Kawanku, the 'Pro' Photographer..!!

At Taman Botani, Putrajaya

Lawa tak?hehe Well,this pic was taken(after edited my urs truly) by my friend Maryam..!
Maryam ni lain macam sikit, dia tak brapa suka amik2 gamba..tapi this pic is not bad right?hehe

So..the story here is that we were supposed to ride a bicycle u can rent here in Taman Botani (for RM2 for 1hour) <-- we've already known this piece of information beforehand,
jadi memang excited la nak naik bicycle nie!!
My Brother followed..in spite of him being bored of just staying at home and surfing the Net..so tak pe la, ikut je la..

Pukul 5.30 baru gerak ke taman nie, we knew that the park will be closed at 7pm..so kena cepat!!I drove so fast..takde la fast sgt, dekat la jugak taman tu..huhu

Jadi..bila da sampai..terus masuk parking (ingatkan kena bayar, rupa2 nye free!!)
We didnt know where exactly to rent those bikes then we asked is abg jaga..

Abg jaga: Ye deq?

Me: (nada malu2)Salam..abg..tumpang tanya nak sewa basikal kat mana yek?
Abg jaga: Em..kat bangunan tu ye deq (tunjuk kat bangunan atas bukit tu)
Me: Oo ok trima kasih ye bang..
Abg jaga: Tapi..{blahblahblahblahblah} 
*i cant remember what he said exactly coz he was speaking in a very thick Kelantanese dialek!but thanks to my years of stay in Kuantan and surrounded by Kelantanese people i managed to catch a few phrases!WOW!ada kemajuan lisa!hehe


Me: (muka pending kejap,nak faham betul2) oo ok2..tak pe la..terima kasih eyh..
Abg jaga: (senyum)
Me: (to Maryam n Emil)Dia kata sewa basikal dari pukul 9 pagi sampai 5ptg la..kul 5 tadi dah tutup..camne?
Maryam: La..yeke?takpe la..jom tengok je la tempat tu, next time kita dah tau mana nak g..

By then Maryam and my bro looked puzzled coz they obviously didnt understand what the abg jaga was saying and they were even surprised that i understood!

But for the rest of the evening we just walked around the park..to grab the moment i brought my CAMERA!
Maryam pun just have to go along la kan..hehe
However she offered to take the photos of me in it!Boleh percaya ke Maryam nie?Lawa ke nanti ni..huhu

The my bro tagged along, nak jugak amik gamba! Maryam pun layan je la, but she was the one making fun of us..huhuhu
Hilang mood ku.. =_=


All and all it was a great day..would be greater if we got the ride those bicycles!

my review for Slumdog Millionaire (the book)

i just bought the book Slumdog Millionaire by Vikas Swarup 3days ago
and i managed to finish it today.. YAY!!

well, dah lama dah nk tgk cite nie tapi i can't get my hands on the movie DVD version ( cetak rompak da makin susah nk dicari ),
so i was interested in reading its B&W version when i saw it @ MPH Alamanda..

I didn't know that the movie was adapted from a novel by this Vikas Swarup, and it was the picture of that guy and girl from the movie that caught my eye.

I like the way the author tells his story, it was as if i was listening to the tales a friend by the name of Ram Mohamad Thomas.
it sound weird, which is a combination of Hindu + Muslim + Christian
however later on in the book we'll find out why he has 3 different names..

and we also find out how he managed to win a billion rupees in this game show 'Who Wants to Win a Billion' in India..
there are 12 questions that must be answered correctly i order for him to win that much amount of cash
and we are brought to 12 different scenes in his life, where he experiences the answers to the questions..
most of the time it was his luck and coincidence that has helped him along the way...

from the day he was born ( abandoned in front of a church by his mother ) and all through this teenagers' life, we see the reality on the life on the people in India..which is sad and full of injustice..

well..there are certain parts in the story that i didnt quite favour, which was when the author touched abit on the violence of Muslims in India..
it may be quite controversional, which was probably why this movie didnt make it into Malaysia's theaters...??
